Man! I'm not very blog-savvy. Here's the email:Are you familiar with the rest of the steps for adding documents to and creating an ePortfolio? Essentially, you create all of your pages for your portfolio using the Matrix (and the link for that is on the left-side of the screen once you enter the eP@VT site). You can create pages in each cell of the Matrix.
Then, you can put all of these pages together and actually build your polished portfolio using the Portfolio template (and the link for this is on the left side of the screen as well). You first need to add the VT Portfolio Template, and I am also including directions for that with my email attachment. As you go through the steps to add that template, you will also be creating your ePortfolio. You can enter the name you would like to appear on the portfolio and give your eP a title. In one of the steps of eP creation, you will be able to select which pages from your Matrix you would like to appear in your published ePortfolio.
and the directions:
Directions for Joining eP@VT (the general ePortfolio site)
1. Log in to Scholar using your pid and password.
2. Click on ‘My Workspace,’ located in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Click on the ‘Membership’ link, located on the left side of the screen (in the ‘Settings’ box).
4. Click on the ‘Joinable sites’ link:
5. In the ‘Search’ box, type “eP@VT”
6. Click on the ‘join’ link.
7. You may need to refresh your page, but you should see the ‘eP@VT’ tab at the top of your page. You can also access your eP@VT site by clicking on ‘My Sites’ in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Directions for Adding the VT Portfolio Template
1. Once in your eP@VT site, click on the ‘Portfolios’ link on the left side of the screen (in the ‘Portfolio Tools’ box).
2. Under the ‘Portfolio’ heading, click the ‘Add’ link.
3. From the template drop-down menu, select ‘VT Portfolio Template (Global Template).’
4. Click on the ‘Continue’ button.
5. Continue following steps 1 through 3 to create your portfolio template. You can always go back and edit these details of your ePortfolio, and you can add more portfolio templates in order to create different portfolios to meet different objectives (i.e., you can create an eP for learning, a professional eP, and a personal eP – just to name a few).
Is it just me or is the ePortfolio program extremely cumbersome?
I've been finding it's not all that straightforward either. Still having trouble uploading jpgs (field notes and my tree) Anyone know how to do this?
231-HELP (231-4357) or http://www.4help.vt.edu for questions on e Portfolio.
If you would rather just submit elements on a CD or in your VT filebox that is acceptable to me.
I have decided to give up on ePortfolio all together and make a blog instead. If you decide that you want to go this route instead, here is the start of mine that you can use as an example.
